Hawkwind, introduction
In 2004 I wandered into the Bop Shop in Rochester to browse their dollar-records bin and see if I might find some truffles. I didn’t. But I was greeted with an extremely weird and loud soundtrack that caught my attention.
(Note: My hair really did look like this at the time. Waitresses commonly called me “ma’am.” But anyways…)
It was a live recording and it...
RE: Pukadon
Brad Kerr: hey good news
Brad Kerr: i drew pukadon
Cassandra Hodge: i was just looking at it
Cassandra Hodge: it is super gross
Cassandra Hodge: i hate this whole puking dinosaur series
Cassandra Hodge: it seems like something you need to work through right now
the greatest drawing ever drawn
One year ago I was working hard on BARREL-CHESTED TALES, a would-be modern pulp zine with strange tales of zombies, explorers, tough guys, and Mars. Everyone involved in this project more or less abandoned it at the same time (myself included) and it never saw the light of day. I maintain hope that someday we’ll still publish the first issue but for now I can only appreciate what is...
My favorite scene from Conan the Barbarian (1982)
Last night I sat down and watched Conan the Barbarian for the first time. By all conventional standards, this is not an extraordinary film. However—hours have passed by and I am utterly unable to get this movie out of my head. It joins Prince’s “Purple Rain” film in this regard. It is SUPER EFFECTIVE.
Here’s my favorite scene:
Mongol General: This is good,...

Short Film: "Kick18"
Because tumblr doesn’t play well with my artistic medium of choice (animated gif), here is a link to my latest short film:
Kick18
(edit: If you see a dragon, click the link again. Apparently Picassa doesn’t like GIFs either)

BROKEN POWER GLOVES
The idea is to get two so that I can wear them while I play the synthesizer/ride my motorcycle/go to the bank/etc. Despite some serious Googling, nobody seems convinced that left-handed PowerGloves even exist.
This poster seems to suggest the contrary:
FRED SAVAGE UNDERSTANDS.
I’ve wanted one since I was a child. Way back when, my mother’s coworkers...
Endless Wyzzrd: Preview of the Week
WARNING! Video contains partial wizard nudity!
This week, we take a look at the Dynamic Hat Engine™ found in Endless Wyzzrd. Thanks to technology, Endless Wyzzrd is able to simulate any number of different hats and gives players the power to put them on or take them off as much as he sees fit. This does include wigs. Truly, PC gaming has emerged from Plato’s cave and blinks, disoriented...

My Huffy
A few months ago I was broke and wanted a bicycle. This presented a problem because 1) I don’t know anything about bicycles and 2) I live in Portland OR. This town is full of bicycle people. I’ve noticed these are similar to rich people in certain regards: they are very exclusive, share a certain disdain of non-[bike] people and yet in spite of this, really do not want new members in...
GENGHIS KHAN
So apparently there’s a new film making the indie theater rounds called MONGOL about the life of Genghis Khan. I have not seen this movie but according to my friend Sumalee:
”..[it was] ok, i mean, it was all about his life as temudgin and his rise to power and he was soooo monogamous, so whatevers”
Clearly Sergei Bodrov has a story he wants to tell and I cannot fault him...

LET'S TALK ABOUT DRAGONS
Okay DRAGONFORCE: Am I ready to begin appreciating this band un-ironically? My heart and my collection of Hawkwind records both say YES.
LOOK AT THOSE ROCKERS. THEY ARE DEFINITELY THINKING ABOUT DRAGONS RIGHT NOW.
NEXT: My favorite game on the Nintendo Wii is the satanic Turbografx-16 pinball sim, Devil’s Crush. TODAY I LEARNED this game was also previously ported to the Sega...
