cosplay is actually super weird
The park across from Lloyd Center was filled with cosplayers today.  Also they seem to have taken over much of the mall.  I saw a LOT of dudes with foam weapons and Naruto wigs—sometimes fighting.  I’m guessing there was an anime convention at the convention center. I’ve seen my share of cosplay on sites like Destructoid and Kotaku and thought it was amusing enough. ...

WIZARD'S TOMB
This is one of my favorite songs I’ve ever recorded: WIZARD’S TOMB.  It is a rap song about wizards.  Dave Vankeuren and I recorded this as part of “WIZARD WEEKEND”—a five song EP written and recorded in four hours (about wizards). DID I MENTION IT’S ABOUT WIZARDS Anyways there are some other guest rappers on this track too that are listed in the track...

Navy Seals Freedom Challenge
When my friend Nate Page told me about his new Navy Seals workout routine he’s been practicing, my first thought was that this should be a competition to prove how much stronger I am than he is.  Also to prove that I love freedom more.  Thus the NAVY SEALS FREEDOM CHALLENGE was born. The workout (as explained by Nate’s brother): “set of pushups (start at 10 reps?), followed...

The Lil Hospital
A few years back I found a twee pop band through the internet called “the Lil Hospital.”  I can’t remember how we first started chatting but we got to talking and became friendly.  Kevin, the brains of the Lil Hospital, offered to swap cds with me; I had already purchased his but he was nice enough to send me an earlier recording he had made called “I Wanna Be...

where i blog about batman
Whereas “Batman Begins” showed us Batman as “symbol of fear” and “Dark Knight” showed us Batman as “a paean of praise to the fortitude and moral courage that has been shown by George W. Bush in this time of terror and war” (um whatever Rupert Murdoch), I’m hoping Batman 3 treads a different path.  This is not to say that I did not enjoy Dark...

Powerglove VIOLENCE
Last week I wrote: “If anyone has any requests of things they’d like to see me karate chopping with my Power Glove, by all means let me know” Well, the readers have responded.  Apparently there are many things in this world that should be karate-chopped with an outdated video game peripheral and I AM THE MAN WHO WILL CHOP THEM.  Behold! Reader Kyle requests: “…a guy in a...

Public Transportation Diary (8/07/2008)
Dear Diary, It’s sort of depressing when I realize that the most notable part of my day was riding the bus; unfortunately this is the case. I was riding to work this morning on the number 14 accross the Hawthorne Bridge when the lights came on and the gates came down—this means the bridge has to go up so a ship can pass through.  For the reader’s benefit, I have illustrated...

Endless Wyzzrd Music Preview
Today, let’s hear a song I wrote for the video game Endless Wyzzrd.  Before forming an opinion on this music’s merit, please set the song to repeat and listen intently for 30-40 minutes (with headphones), as this is the original intention of the artist.  Also it would help to think about dragons. Retro Gaming Expo
On Saturday I took my motorcycle down to the Portland Retro Gaming Expo.  Here are some of the things I saw: (warning! blurry camera phone photos incoming!) PEOPLE SELLING CRAP  Most of the expo looked like the best garage sale ever only with really ugly carpets.  The merchandise comprised Atari 2600 and NES games mostly. FIERCE COMPETITION. Actually I didn’t compete in anything but...

Christianity is Awesome (proof)
I think sometimes Christians get a bad rap for being lame and white and sometimes totally crazy.  Also a lot of people have Christian parents and as everyone knows, parents are super lame and goofy.  I’m just saying. What people don’t often realize is that when Christianity is on then it is SUPER ON. I present the following evidence: Joubert Singers - Stand on the Word (mp3) Just...
