the greatest drawing ever drawn
One year ago I was working hard on BARREL-CHESTED TALES, a would-be modern pulp zine with strange tales of zombies, explorers, tough guys, and Mars. Everyone involved in this project more or less abandoned it at the same time (myself included) and it never saw the light of day. I maintain hope that someday we’ll still publish the first issue but for now I can only appreciate what is undoubtedly, its greatest accomplishment, BIRTHING THIS PICTURE TO THE WORLD:
Yes, you are looking at Marlon Brando punching the face off a zombie nazi. I emailed comic book artist Brett Weldele out of the blue and asked if he’d be willing to make a cover to our stupid zine for free and miraculously he agreed. His posters for the Portland Grindhouse Film Fest always resonated in me as being extraordinarly awesome but this absolutely tops them all in my book. Thank you Brett; let the church say amen!
Ramsey Ess also gave us a pretty sick picture of a guy getting stabbed in a boat but that is a post for another day.
